YouTube to allow users to upload Shorts up to three minutes long

YouTube has decided to update its Shorts policy, giving users more flexibility. Starting October 15, users will be able to upload videos up to three minutes long in the YouTube Shorts section (currently, the limit is one minute).

Todd Sherman, Director of Product Management for YouTube Shorts, commented on the update: «This was the most requested feature among content creators, so we are excited to offer more flexibility for you to tell your story».

Interestingly, TikTok already made this change back in 2021, increasing the maximum video length from 60 seconds to 3 minutes. Later, the platform even allowed users to upload videos up to 10 minutes long (or 60 minutes if uploaded through the app).
