In 2021, Casey Hudson, the game director behind the original Mass Effect trilogy, founded Humanoid Studios. The team had been working on a new sci-fi game, but in November 2024, the studio faced an «unexpected funding shortfall.»
The announcement of the studio's closure was made via its LinkedIn profile. Leadership is now focused on assisting employees in finding new opportunities.
Meanwhile, other BioWare veterans, including Drew Karpyshyn, the writer of the first two Mass Effect games, are working on a role-playing game called Exodus. You can watch new trailer here.
