Vatiety: Warner Bros. to Produce a Film About Clayface, One of Batman's Key Villains

DC Studios has reportedly given the green light to a film centered on Clayface, according to Variety. While details remain scarce, production is expected to begin in early 2025.

A director has yet to be confirmed, but Mike Flanagan—known for Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House, and The Fall of the House of Usher—will serve as the screenwriter. Flanagan is also set to work on a new adaptation of The Exorcist in the near future.

Flanagan has previously expressed his desire to craft a film about Clayface as a thriller or horror piece. DC Studios executives James Gunn and Peter Safran have also emphasized their commitment to giving filmmakers full creative freedom for their projects.

Clayface is the alias of several supervillains who have clashed with Batman. The character debuted in 1940 as a deranged actor determined to eliminate his rivals. Over the years, Clayface has appeared in various animated series and video games, including Batman: Arkham City.
