Sony Confirms Readiness to Buy FromSoftware Owner Kadokawa
Sony has officially announced that it is interested in buying Kadokawa Group, which owns a number of studios, including the creators of Dark Souls and Elden Ring. According to Yahoo! Japan, the two companies are already in talks.
Sony Group confirmed that it sent a letter to the owners of FromSoftware with preliminary terms of the purchase. Representatives of the group of companies are not yet ready to disclose all the terms of the deal:
Meanwhile, Kadokawa employees have reacted to the news of the purchase with optimism. They hope that after the acquisition of Sony, the company will change its management, which is rather frivolous about information security. Recall that in June, hackers stole more than 1 TB of data, including personal information, business plans and financial documents.
The deal is currently under discussion. By the way, Sony already owns 2% of Kadokawa shares and a stake in FromSoftware.
FromSoftware CEO Hidetaka Miyazaki recently said that Elden Ring 2 is not in development yet. However, the studio is not ruling out the sequel from its plans.
