The parent company of FromSoftware has fallen victim to a hacker attack — 1.5 TB of data was stolen
Kadokawa Group, the parent company of FromSoftware (developers of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring), recently suffered a cyberattack from hackers.
It is known that the hacker group Black Suit is behind the attack. They reported the breach of Kadokawa Group's internal network. Approximately 1.5 TB of data was stolen, which reportedly includes various documents, business plans, financial records, and personal information about employees.
The hackers are demanding a ransom (the exact amount has not been disclosed). Otherwise, they threaten to release the stolen data publicly. The perpetrators have given a deadline until July 1st of this year.
Representatives of Kadokawa Group have confirmed the breach and stated that they are currently working on resolving the issue. The report indicates that the Japanese video-sharing site Niconico was the most affected by the cyberattack.
As for FromSoftware, at the time of writing, there are no confirmations of any data being stolen from this studio.
