US Considers Reversing TikTok Ban

On January 18th, the US Supreme Court approved a ban on TikTok, and the social media platform was blocked nationwide on the 19th. Just hours later, President Donald Trump announced his intention to reverse the ban.

Trump stated on his social media platform that he would issue an executive order on Monday to delay the enforcement of the TikTok ban. He also said he would exempt from liability all companies that help bypass the ban before the order's release. The President expressed his desire for ByteDance to sell 50% of the social media platform to a US-based company, believing this would save TikTok, keep it in safe hands, and allow it to develop.

It's worth noting that along with TikTok, the US also blocked video editor CapCut, social platform Lemon8, and the card game Marvel Snap, all of which are owned by ByteDance.

Update: TikTok's app and website are now working again in the US.
