Rumor: Marvel Rivals Devs Hunting Insiders With Fake Code

Some Marvel Rivals data leaks could have been a trick from NetEase developers, data miners believe. In this way, the company allegedly intends to confuse and compromise insiders.

According to journalist Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, the first to report the «false» leaks was the Marvel Rivals Leak Discord channel. Data miners suspected that NetEase was adding mentions of heroes to the game code that will not appear in it. This way, the developers can track down the authors of the leaks.

The words of the Marvel Rivals Leak team were supplemented by insider zvis_ceral. He showed a screenshot with tags of Gambit, Nightcrawler, Rogue and other characters from the game code that are planned for future updates. It is noticeable that entire branches with voice command triggers were worked out for each of the heroes — too much work for «planted» characters. However, zvis_ceral is also not 100% sure that the code is true.

Although there is a possibility of deception, Tom Henderson himself believes that the fears are in vain. Firstly, information about future heroes will still appear in the code, so some of the leaks will hit the target. Secondly, some «false» parts of the code may turn out to be a simple development stage, when the studio planned some content, but then abandoned it.

However, it is known for sure that Marvel Rivals will add the Spider-Man suit from Marvel's Spider-Man 2. This was officially reported by the PlayStation account. Meanwhile, the online shooter has disabled the ability to use mods, players complain.
