Intel Unveils Exclusive Core Ultra 5 230FProcessor

Intel has announced the new Core Ultra 5 230F processor, which will be available on the Chinese market. The Core Ultra 5 230F is a direct successor to the Core i5-14490F, which was also exclusive to China. This 10-core chip, consisting of six P-cores and four E-cores, is positioned as an improved version of the Core Ultra 5 225F, with higher clock speeds and a larger cache.

The main difference between the 230F and its predecessor lies in the modest increase in clock speeds: the P-cores reach 5.0 GHz, while the E-cores reach 4.4 GHz (base speeds are 3.4 GHz and 2.9 GHz, respectively). In contrast, the Core Ultra 5 225F has P-cores maxing out at 4.9 GHz and E-cores limited to 4.3 GHz (base speeds are 3.3 GHz and 2.7 GHz, respectively). Additionally, the new processor comes with 24 MB of cache, compared to 20 MB in the 225F, providing a slight performance boost, especially for tasks that require a larger cache, with a TDP of 65W.

Despite the changes in clock speeds and cache, the chip uses the same architecture as other models in the Arrow Lake family. Its performance in everyday tasks is not expected to differ significantly from other 10-core Intel processors, although small improvements in gaming performance could make a difference.

It remains unclear whether the processor will be released internationally, but for China, this marks another step in expanding Intel's exclusive product lineup. The processor is priced at $280, with sales already underway.
