Gamer Buys Steam Deck by Selling Thousands of Trading Cards on the Marketplace

The Steam Marketplace is an excellent way to get rid of unwanted items while boosting your wallet. A user named @Ringler_SSBM recently boasted that they managed to buy a Steam Deck by selling only collectible trading cards.

This achievement was made possible thanks to his 10,000-strong audience on the social platform X. On February 3, he announced his goal of earning enough for a Steam Deck by selling cards, and that same day, he was flooded with a massive pile of virtual items. There were so many trading cards that @Ringler_SSBM had to use extensions to automatically accept trade offers and list the cards on the marketplace.

Over the span of a few days, @Ringler_SSBM accumulated around 20,000 trading cards. At one point, sales were moving so quickly that the process "crashed the Steam economy," according to the gamer. Despite this, he achieved his goal, earning over $650, which was enough to purchase the most expensive OLED model with 1 TB of storage.

Now, the gamer can finally realize his dream—playing The Binding of Isaac in bed while watching House M.D. Any leftover money, @Ringler_SSBM promised, will be donated to charity.
