AMD Releases Six New Ryzen 5000G Processors on Zen 3 Architecture

AMD unexpectedly expanded its Ryzen 5000G lineup by releasing six new processors based on the Zen 3 Cezanne architecture. The models include Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5, and Ryzen 7 variants, all compatible with the AM4 socket. They come with integrated Radeon Vega graphics and support DDR4 memory while retaining the PCIe 3.0 limitation.

The new processors are available in standard and energy-efficient GE versions with a TDP of 35W. This lineup includes the Ryzen 7 5705G and 5705GE with eight cores and clock speeds of up to 4.6 GHz, Ryzen 5 5605G and 5605GE with six cores (up to 4.4 GHz), and Ryzen 3 5305G and 5305GE with four cores (up to 4.2 GHz). All models support SMT technology, ensuring multitasking capabilities.

Although AMD already launched the Ryzen 9000 series in 2024, the new Ryzen 5000G chips remain on the Zen 3 architecture, which debuted in 2020. This allows the company to offer more affordable solutions for the budget segment while maintaining support for the AM4 platform.

AMD has not disclosed the prices of the new models or confirmed whether they will be available for retail purchase. They are expected to occupy the budget-friendly niche, ensuring compatibility with older motherboards. This approach allows owners of older systems to upgrade their processors without needing to replace the entire platform.

However, this strategy might cause confusion among buyers who expect the latest technologies in new products. With the launch of processors based on the Zen 5 architecture, releasing updated Zen 3 models might mislead those looking for the most up-to-date solutions. It remains uncertain how long AMD will continue to support Zen 3, given the growing competition and the shift toward newer architectures.
