February 28, 2025, 09:21 AM

One of the most anticipated releases of 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds, has just launched on Steam—and the hype is real. Less than an hour after release, the game has already shattered the franchise’s record and claimed the top spot on Steam.
At the time of writing, Wilds has hit 902,000 concurrent players, surpassing Counter-Strike 2, which sits at 683,000. The previous series record was held by Monster Hunter: World, which peaked at a mere 334,000 players.
The number is climbing by the minute, and the game is on track to break the 1 million mark soon. With the weekend ahead, player counts are expected to surge even higher.
Monster Hunter Wilds is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
