Assassin's Creed: Shadows Will Let Players Build Their Own Base — Key Details

Ubisoft has shared new details about Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, revealing fresh gameplay footage and an in-depth look at the game’s central hub village, the Hideout.

  • The Hideout is located in a secret valley hidden within the Settsu Province’s Izumi region. Surrounded by steep hills and cliffs, it serves as a perfect base for the protagonists;
  • Players will gain access to the Hideout after completing the prologue and meeting Tomiko, the settlement’s caretaker;
  • While bases have been featured in past Assassin’s Creed games, Shadows aims to offer something unique—this time, players will have an entire acre of land (about half a football field) to customize;
  • The Hideout editor allows players to place buildings, pavilions, pathways, light sources, trees, and even animals. Some decorative elements can be found while exploring Japan;
  • Construction requires three key resources: wood, minerals, and crops, which can be gathered in the open world or from large storage facilities;
  • Players will be able to build structures such as meeting halls, stables, blacksmiths, tea houses, and dojos. Among the wildlife that can inhabit the Hideout are spotted deer, tanuki, and foxes.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows launches on March 20 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
