NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 5060, and RTX 5050: Leaked Specifications and Release Date

According to the latest leaks, NVIDIA is preparing to launch three new desktop graphics cards— the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 5060, and RTX 5050. Reliable insider Kopite7kimi indicates that the models are scheduled for a March presentation, with sales set to begin in April 2024. The new lineup focuses on striking a balance between performance and energy efficiency, while also introducing GDDR7 memory for the mainstream segment.

The top model in the trio, the RTX 5060 Ti, will feature the GB206-300 GPU with 4608 CUDA cores—a 6% increase over the RTX 4060 Ti. This card will come in two variants: one with 8 GB and another with 16 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 128-bit bus, offering bandwidth of up to 672 GB/s. With a TDP of 180 W, the accelerator will require robust cooling, but it is poised to become a favorite among gamers targeting 1440p resolution.

The “people’s” RTX 5060 is set to impress with an increase in processing units up to 3840 CUDA cores—a 25% jump over the RTX 4060. Combined with GDDR7 memory and a 128-bit bus, this upgrade could significantly boost FPS in modern games. However, its power consumption will rise to 150 W, which is 26% higher than its predecessor. Experts suggest that the higher power draw is due to increased clock speeds, which NVIDIA offsets with an enhanced architecture.

The most affordable model, the RTX 5050, utilizes the GB207-300 chip with 2560 CUDA cores and 8 GB of GDDR6. Despite its modest specs, it distinguishes itself with a 128-bit bus (compared to the 96-bit bus of the mobile RTX 4050) and a TDP of 130 W. Analysts predict that thanks to architectural optimizations, this card could come close to the performance of the RTX 4060, though achieving this will require a substantial boost in clock speeds.

The RTX 50 series is betting on GDDR7 for the mainstream segment (except for the RTX 5050), accelerating the industry's shift to the new memory standard. Meanwhile, the increased TDP signals a shift toward performance, which may affect cooling solutions and power supply requirements. It is expected that the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 will become best-sellers thanks to their excellent balance of price and performance, while the RTX 5050 will secure a niche in budget builds by offering up to a 25% performance increase over the previous generation. An official NVIDIA announcement is anticipated to confirm these details in the coming weeks.
