March 15, 2025, 12:13 AM

Digital Foundry has released an hour-long video comparing the original 2004 Half-Life 2 with Half-Life 2 RTX, the community-made remaster being created with NVIDIA's RTX Remix toolkit.
Half-Life 2 RTX is being developed by Orbifold Studios, a team of experienced modders. The creators are promising enhanced lighting, new assets, ray tracing, and support for DLSS 4. The remaster will be free for owners of the original Half-Life 2 on Steam. A release date has not yet been announced.
A free demo is scheduled to launch on March 18th, allowing players to explore two locations: the abandoned town of Ravenholm and Nova Prospekt prison. A new trailer showcasing ray tracing and DLSS 4, which improves FPS, was recently released online.
