Samsung Reinvents Gaming Monitors — Autostereoscopic 3D and Ultra-Fast OLED

Samsung is gearing up to launch its Odyssey 2025 monitor lineup, placing its bets on two groundbreaking innovations: a 3D display that operates without glasses. The flagship 27-inch model, Odyssey 3D (G90XF), is Samsung’s response to the demands of esports competitors and VR enthusiasts. What sets this device apart is its autostereoscopic technology, which replaces traditional glasses with a blend of lenticular lenses and an eye-tracking system. This approach creates a depth effect that adjusts dynamically to the viewer’s position.

To activate the 3D mode, users will need the Reality Hub app — a tool that not only optimizes gaming performance but also converts standard video content into a three-dimensional experience using neural network AI. Note, however, that a graphics card at the level of NVIDIA RTX 3080 or higher is required for this conversion. Additionally, the monitor comes with Edge Lighting, a backlighting feature that synchronizes with the screen’s color palette to further enhance immersion.

The Odyssey 3D boasts a 4K panel with a 165 Hz refresh rate and a 1 ms (GtG) response time, and it supports both AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC. Priced at $2,700, the initial sales will begin in South Korea, with a global release expected to follow.

Samsung is also actively partnering with developers to fully exploit the potential of 3D technology. Support has already been announced for games The First Berserker: Khazan and Lies of P: Overture. The company intends to broaden this list, offering studios the tools needed to fine-tune stereo effects.
