Path of Exile 2 May Stay in Early Access Until 2026

It looks like the full release of Path of Exile 2 will be delayed by a few months. Developers from Grinding Gear Games said that they may not have time to finish the game by the end of 2025.
In an interview with PC Gamer, game director Jonathan Rogers clarified the information about the project leaving early access. The studio still hopes to fulfill the promises made to players, but it may be necessary to wait.
Initially, before we kind of got to the crunch period, we were sort of saying six months in early access, which in retrospect was not going to happen. My current feeling is kind of a year of early access. Like, I want to get it done this year, but we'll see how things go. I mean, maybe it'll take a little bit of extra time, but I'm hoping.
I still really want to get the game out and fully released in 2025 so yeah, that's the target. We'll see how it goes though.
With the addition of new classes in Path of Exile 2, not everything is going as planned either — the frequency of updates may be reduced. Earlier, Grinding Gear Games hoped that they would be able to release six additional classes before leaving early access.
Recall that with the release of the full version, Path of Exile 2 will become completely free. The action is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Earlier, the developers announced a major update that will add the Huntress class, new subclasses, events, maps and other content.
