Leak: Battlefield 6 to Feature Free Mode

New information has leaked online revealing that the upcoming shooter Battlefield 6 will include a free-to-play Battle Royale mode, allowing anyone to join in without purchasing the full game.
The data was uncovered through game files accessed by dataminers via Battlefield Labs. Previously, concept art for Battlefield 6 had leaked, and now it has been confirmed that a Battle Royale mode is indeed in development.
According to unofficial information, the mode is being developed by Ripple Effect Studio and includes classic elements of the genre:
- Modes: solo, duo, trio, squads;
- Armor system;
- Reinforcement call-ins;
- Various loot rarity levels;
- Upgradeable weapon kits;
- Shrinking zone.
The files also mention another mode called Gauntlet, but details on it are scarce. The creators of Battlefield seem eager to make the Battle Royale mode free to attract more players, similar to Call of Duty: Warzone. This decision is reportedly made by the new general manager of the franchise, Byron Beede, who previously worked on Call of Duty and its online services.
