Keyboard with Raspberry Pi 5 and gesture control wows at CES 2025
At CES 2025, AutoKeybo introduced an unconventional keyboard equipped with a built-in Raspberry Pi 5 featuring 8 GB of RAM. The device merges the functions of both a keyboard and a mouse, aiming to eliminate the constant hand-switching between devices during work.
The keyboard is designed in a "sandwich" format, with two layers. The top layer consists of two button blocks, equipped with Gateron Red switches that support hot swapping. The lower layer includes a numeric pad and a trackpad that functions as a mouse. The standout feature of AutoKeybo is its automatic retractable mechanism, which activates based on hand gestures. Gesture recognition is powered by an integrated smart camera.
Thanks to the Raspberry Pi 5, the keyboard can double as a mini-PC. Simply connect it to a monitor via HDMI, and it transforms into a fully functional computer. This feature offers new possibilities for users seeking a compact, versatile device. The developers claim that AutoKeybo helps users focus on their tasks by removing the "pointless ritual" of switching between devices. However, journalists who tested the device at CES 2025 noted that the mechanism sometimes doesn't work as smoothly as expected and requires further refinement.
The keyboard is expected to hit the market in late 2025, with a price tag of $699.
