Micron introduces energy-efficient Crucial P510 SSD and larger DDR5 memory modules

At CES 2025, Micron unveiled several key updates to its Crucial product lineup, including a new PCIe 5.0 SSD and larger DDR5 memory modules aimed at enhancing both performance and efficiency.

The Crucial P510 SSD, designed for both laptops and desktops, leads the company's new releases. Available in 1TB and 2TB options, the P510 offers sequential read speeds of up to 11,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 9,550 MB/s. While it doesn't outperform the flagship T705 and T700 models, its standout feature is its power efficiency. The P510 consumes 25% less power than previous PCIe 5.0 drives, significantly improving battery life for laptops. Micron has hinted that the SSD utilizes a new, more power-efficient architecture, likely based on the E31T SSD controller, and features Micron's ninth-generation (G9) TLC NAND.

In addition to the P510, Micron also introduced new DDR5 memory modules. The Crucial DDR5 Pro Overclocking series is now available with a 32GB capacity (up from 16GB previously), and the company announced new CUDIMM and CSODIMM modules in 32GB and 64GB sizes, with DDR5-6400 speeds. For traditional UDIMM and SODIMM modules, options of 64GB at DDR5-5600 are now available, providing more memory choices for demanding users.

The P510 SSD is expected to be available in the spring, larger memory kits will hit the market in February.
