Xpeng Aero HT presents the next-gen flying car for thrill-seekers and rescue teams
At CES 2025, Xpeng Aero HT, the aerospace division of the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng, introduced a revolutionary transportation concept: the Land Aircraft Carrier. This modular flying car combines an electric minivan with a compact, foldable eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft stored in the back.
The vehicle allows users to drive it to a takeoff and landing site, detach and unfold the eVTOL, and take off into the sky. After the flight, the eVTOL folds back into the vehicle’s trunk. This eliminates the need for expensive hangars or airstrips, making the flying car a more accessible and convenient option for its owners. Even with the eVTOL onboard, the minivan has enough space for four passengers.
Equipped with an 800-volt power platform, the Land Aircraft Carrier can provide a combined range of up to 621 miles (1000 km), powering both the land and air modules. The eVTOL features a lightweight carbon fiber cockpit and a six-rotor design with foldable propellers, ensuring high safety standards, including automatic rotor failure response.
With a price tag under $300,000, the Land Aircraft Carrier is designed to cater to both adventure seekers and emergency rescue services, with over 3,000 pre-orders already confirmed. This project represents the first phase of Xpeng Aero HT’s long-term goals. The next steps involve developing high-speed, long-range flying cars for urban air mobility and, eventually, a fully integrated land-air transportation system.
