Havok Physics Engine Creators Showcase Realistic Destruction System

The creators of the Havok physics engine have released a new video showcasing their object destruction system. Interestingly, the video comes more than a decade after their last tech demo.

The footage reveals objects breaking into numerous small pieces in real-time, thanks to the Havok Physics system.

"By using Havok Physics Particles and full rigid bodies you can dynamically change any environment, block paths, open new areas for players, or destroy the world! Dynamic destruction and huge numbers of physically simulating bodies can add depth and intensity to any level. This is a small level showing some of the functionality provided by Havok Physics", — the description reads.

The level shown in the video was created using Unreal Engine. This indicates that developers using Epic Games' engine likely already have access to the updated Havok physics system.

Previously, we reported that Sony unveiled a conceptual technology that takes The Last of Us gameplay to a whole new level of realism.
