ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 Burned Out After Browsing Websites

The launch of the 50th series of video cards will definitely be one of the most problematic in the history of NVIDIA. This time, a user of the top-end ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 reported a literally burned-out video card.

As a user with the nickname Impossible-Weight485 told on Reddit, he spent some time in the game, after which he switched to browsing websites. Soon his PC unexpectedly turned off. He rebooted the computer, but the brand new RTX 5090 began to smoke. Then the owner took out the GPU and examined it, finding traces of burning on the video card itself and the motherboard.

The Wcctech suggested that the culprit was a Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC). Probably, due to a defect, it could not cope with a voltage surge, which led to the fire. And of course, this is simply unacceptable for a video card costing $ 2,800.

The defective video card has already been bought from the owner at full price to conduct an examination.

Earlier, NVIDIA acknowledged another problem with the new series of video cards. It turned out that the RTX 5090 and 5070 Ti lack rasterization units. And some users encountered melting connectors.
