AYANEO Blends the '80s with AI in a Single Mini-PC

AYANEO has introduced the updated mini-PC AM01S. Inspired by the aesthetics of the ’80s, this model not only embraces a retro design but also packs cutting-edge internals capable of competing with full-sized systems. The AM01S’s standout feature is its 4-inch touchscreen with an aluminum frame, which can function as a standalone display or as part of an extended workspace. Unlike the decorative panels of the past, this screen supports a tilt of up to 90°, displays system metrics (such as temperature and fan speeds), weather widgets, clocks, and is compatible with third-party applications like MSI Afterburner.

At its core lies the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 from the Strix Point series — the first mini-PC to feature a 12-core Zen 5/5c architecture, 16-core RDNA 3.5 graphics, and an NPU delivering 50 TOPS for AI tasks. This marks a significant upgrade over the previously planned Hawk Point (with up to 8 Zen 4 cores), enabling the system to operate at up to 65W thanks to dual-fan cooling with heat pipes.

The AM01S retains its liter-sized chassis while doubling its upgrade potential with two DDR5-5600 slots and two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD slots — a rarity in compact PCs. Its connectivity options include two USB4 ports (40 Gbps), five USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 2.0, and an audio jack. Four conveniently placed USB-A ports on the front panel ensure easy access to peripherals.

This device is ideal not only for collectors of retro gadgets but also for professionals who value compactness — such as those involved in streaming, media centers, or mobile workstations with AI tool support. It is expected that the new model will join a lineup that already includes units powered by Ryzen 7 8845HS and Ryzen 9 8945HS. However, the exact release date and price remain a mystery, only adding to the excitement.
