Assassin's Creed: Shadows introduces a «canon mode» not seen in previous games

Ubisoft has released another video for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, this time showcasing the new "canon mode." This feature removes dialogue choices, replacing them with traditional cutscenes.

As an example, Ubisoft demonstrated a scene featuring Yasuke and Oda Nobunaga. With "canon mode" turned off, players can choose between two dialogue options. When enabled, the scene plays out without player input. It’s likely that the mode will affect not just dialogue but also major story decisions.

Many players have long criticized dialogue choices in the series, arguing that the Animus shouldn’t influence past events. This mechanic was first introduced in Assassin’s Creed: Origins.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is set to launch on March 20. Previously, insider Tom Henderson reported that full reviews will go live two days before release.
