Apocalypse is not only an alien invasion and a zombie uprising, but also destruction on a global scale. Huge cities turn into ruins, people die in droves not only from horrific destruction, but also due to lack of food and water, as well as other consequences caused by the apocalypse. In the game I Am Alive, the player will have to experience firsthand the hardships of everyday life in a post-apocalyptic world.
I'm trading a machete for a glass of water
In the game I Am Alive, weapons are the last priority. It's much more important to have a bottle of water and a piece of bread than a sharpened blade. Throughout the game, we face many obstacles, ranging from food and water shortages to a destroyed city, which after such horrific events, can truly be called the "Concrete Jungle," because surviving in this city becomes hardly easier than surviving in the wild jungle.
Well, here I go
The main character of the game, according to the plot, returns to the city to his family, but the city has turned into something horrific, and we don't even know if our hero's family survived the catastrophe. Now we have only one main goal: to find the main character's family. The search, of course, involves constant jumping from roof to roof, climbing pipes, and grabbing onto any ledges. Moreover, this whole "system of jumps and ledge grabbing" looks as it would in real life. That is, our hero can't, like the Prince of Persia, leap across a chasm the size of a football field or hang on a ledge forever. If in I Am Alive you hang over a chasm for too long without trying to climb up, the main character will inevitably fall down.
We've been waiting for you for a long time
Throughout the game, we will encounter survivors, both friendly ones whom we can help by completing a couple of their tasks, and we may "run into" a crowd of barbarians and marauders who only want our food and clothes. In such situations, it's not wise to rush into battle, because it's quite difficult to deal with a single enemy in close combat, let alone a small gang of bandits, where our hero's chances of winning a fight are zero. In such a situation, it's better to scare the enemies a bit with a gun or a bow and arrows, force them to drop their weapons and surrender. Or lead them to a cliff at gunpoint and push them off. In such situations, you can even threaten enemies with an empty gun, and they'll still be scared. But among the adversaries, there will be bold types who will simply need a bullet to the forehead. By the way, there are very few bullets in the game. If you have at least two or three bullets in your magazine, you're lucky.
***
Overall, I Am Alive is a rather stylish and unusual game. There are no super-strong opponents or mega-enduring characters here. This game is as close to real conditions as possible. The lack of water and food, the difficulties of moving through ruins, realistic fights with opponents, and much more. In this game, brute force takes a back seat; the main thing here is to build the right tactics, think everything through to the smallest detail, and not falter in their execution. I recommend this game to all players, especially those who love to devise thoughtful tactics and action plans.
