Deadlight Review

And once again a universal catastrophe, and once again an apocalypse. On August 1, 2012, the list of zombie games was replenished with a new project that was released under the name Deadlight. This game immerses us in a world experiencing a zombie invasion.

The main character's diary. Our hero will make entries in this notebook during the storyline

And darkness engulfed the world, and their faces lost color

On one hand, Deadlight is yet another classic story about an infection that destroyed part of the planet's population, and turned the other part into bloodthirsty zombies that pursue only one goal: to eat everything that moves. The main character of the game has traveled all across America and continues his journey in search of a base where surviving people have taken refuge. Our hero hopes to find his missing family among the survivors. In short, the game's plot is a genre classic, but the gameplay, game locations, and environment offer something new. As for the cutscenes, they are presented in the form of quite stylish comics that seamlessly fit into the game's atmosphere.

Run, Forrest, run!

2D is beautiful

Deadlight is a 2D game, but it features very dynamic gameplay and colorful locations. After playing Deadlight for a few minutes, it becomes clear that the game's designers did a great job and created a truly stylish project. We don't see the characters' faces; the only thing we are allowed to observe is their silhouettes (shadows). However, the same cannot be said about the background, which looks quite bright and rich. Moreover, the background is so well-drawn that even the smallest details can be seen. This mix of shadows and colors ultimately results in a positive outcome.

Hey, I saw that gun first!

Come in, it's dry and dark here!

In addition to open locations, the game also features indoor areas, which often hide a gang of reanimated corpses. To deal with them, you'll need to use weapons. We have weapons, but ammo can be scarce. Therefore, I don't recommend wasting bullets unnecessarily and shooting at everything that moves. As we progress through the game, we will encounter other survivors who, of course, need our help. The tasks given by the surviving characters may not be very imaginative, but completing them is still a pleasure.

What kind of soldier are you? You can't even do two pull-ups!

***

In conclusion, I would say that Deadlight is a very stylish game with unique graphics, rich gameplay, and extraordinarily colorful locations. By the way, the camera position in the game also changes, but this happens automatically. Sometimes the camera zooms out further than usual, and other times it zooms in almost to the limit. Occasionally, such camera behavior leads to tragic consequences in the form of the main character's death. The game's plot, while classic, is extremely engaging. Once you start playing Deadlight, it's hard to stop. But even if you get caught up in the gameplay, don't worry—the game's story is designed for only 2 hours of playtime, so you won't be stuck in this game for long, no matter how you slice it. This fact may disappoint some, but it's not a reason to not purchase this creation from Tequila Works.
