A young nun, full of doubts and seditious thoughts, is expelled from the monastery, accused of possession. She goes into town, watching as a terrible furry creature follows her around. Along the way, she meets a surprisingly pious escaped prisoner. He convinces the heroine to go with him to the holy elder, who is hiding a miraculous artifact that should solve all her problems.
