Valve was sued for hundreds of millions due to «inflated prices for games»

Valve is being sued again, this time in the UK. The company was accused of «violating local competition laws», demanding a claim of 656 million pounds ($843 million).

The initiator of the lawsuit was digital rights activist Vicki Shotbolt. As stated in the document, Valve «forces game publishers to comply with price parity», according to which projects presented on Steam cannot be offered in competitors' stores at a lower price. In addition, the company was accused of too high a commission (up to 30%), which is why British gamers have to overpay.

According to the lawsuit, Valve violated local antitrust laws for six years.

This is not the first time that Steam owners have faced lawsuits from players. For example, last year a gamer managed to sue Valve for the amount spent on cases in CS: GO. And in 2021, the company was once again accused of monopolizing the market.
