New details of the Gothic remake: hundreds of characters and NPC reactions to the weather

Developers from Alkimia Interactive have released a new podcast in which studio head Reinhard Pollice and composer Kai Rosenkranz discussed the current state of Gothic 1 Remake.

The main points from the conversation:

  • The remake will feature 600 characters, of which about a hundred have received hand-crafted faces;
  • NPCs will react to the weather, such as hiding from the rain;
  • Equipped rings and amulets will not appear on the player;
  • The transition from dialogue to gameplay was made seamless;
  • The studio will show new gameplay videos in August at the THQ Nordic Showcase;
  • The in-game diary is made in the spirit of Gothic 1 and 2;
  • All the characters in the remake will be recognizable, their designs have been worked out close to the original;
  • The design of the world itself is made in the spirit of «augmented realism»;
  • Biomes will be like in the original Gothic;
  • The remake is being developed with a darker atmosphere and visuals compared to the first demo.

Let us remind you that according to data from the financial report of Embracer Group, the remake of the first Gothic will have to be released by April 2025.

Earlier it became known about the closure of the Piranha Bytes studio, which created the original series of dark RPG about an unnamed hero.
