Baldur's Gate 3 officially gets a new companion, but with a terrible condition
The major seventh patch for Baldur's Gate 3 added not only mod support, tools for fan add-ons and new endings to the game, but also an opportunity that fans of the game have long asked for. Larian Studios added another companion for the party, but hiring him will end in tragedy.
If you play as the Dark Seduction, the bard Alfira can join the adventurers' camp. The girl will beg the player to take her into the party, and it is impossible to refuse her. However, due to her peculiarities, the Dark Urge will kill the bard, and this action cannot be controlled or somehow canceled (unless you stun Alfira in the Emerald Grove).
Even at the stage of early access, players learned that the girl could become a companion in the game, but Larian Studios refused this opportunity. Finally, after collecting feedback from gamers, the developers allowed Alfira to be hired. The option is only available for the Dark Urge character — the companion can be equipped, leveled up and her skills upgraded.
However, it's not that simple. In the patch notes for the update, the developers indicated that for her «there is only death». Therefore, the first long rest will result in the player losing the companion the next morning through their own fault. In the Baldur's Gate 3 subreddit, gamers unanimously stated that with this condition, the scene with the Dark Urge becomes even more shocking.
Let us remind you that the seventh patch was released yesterday evening on PC. Its full content can be found here.
