First preview of Dragon Age: The Veilguard with new gameplay details published

IGN has published the first preview of Dragon Age: The Veilguard after several hours of gameplay. Let us remind you that Electronic Arts recently held a closed presentation, during which bloggers and journalists could try out the demo version of the game.

The most important theses and details that the author of the review drew attention to:

  • The semi-open world of the game resembles a combination of Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. The main character Rowke can influence various regions, and the locations themselves are rich in content;
  • Battles have become faster and have moved away from the usual turn-based formula. Companions will give the player valuable advice during the battle;
  • The game will mark the effect of some lines with notifications on the screen;
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard is expected to have many consequences for certain decisions. Some will be very long-lasting;
  • The gameplay will still be non-linear, with the exception of the first act;
  • Access to new locations opens through the Crossroads, some of its sections must be cleared before crossing;
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard leans towards high fantasy, but those who miss the darkness and blood in Dragon Age: Origins will find what they want in the locations affected by the Blight;
  • You can pet dogs and cats;
  • The game really does not have any more side quests for collecting resources;
  • The developers have improved the dialogue system — if a battle begins, the conversation with the characters is interrupted, resuming after the battle;
  • The antagonists in the person of the elven gods Elgar'nan and Gilan'nain will become more memorable opponents than Corypheus from Inquisition;
  • The companions at the halt will have many unique interactions. For example, you can play Rock, Paper, Scissors with the skeleton Mannfred;
  • In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the history of Solas will be revealed in more detail, he still remains an important link in the plot;
  • The game will feature a lot of content related to the previous parts, and Rowk himself is more reminiscent of the protagonist from Dragon Age 2.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on October 31 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Earlier, BioWare released a video with an overview of all the potential companions that the player will be able to collect. A photo of the character editor was also leaked online.
