At the end of last month, Dragon Age: The Veilguard was released and, according to Circana's report, it landed in sixth place among the top-selling games in the US for October. However, it turns out that the published ranking doesn't fully reflect the actual sales figures.

Top-selling games of October:

  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6;
  2. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero;
  3. Silent Hill 2;
  4. Undisputed;
  5. Metaphor: ReFantazio;
  6. Dragon Age: The Veilguard;
  7. Super Mario Party Jamboree!;
  8. Madden NFL 25;
  9. Sonic X Shadow Generations;
  10. EA Sports FC 25;
  11. EA Sports College Football 25;
  12. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom;
  13. Hogwarts Legacy;
  14. NHL 25;
  15. Astro Bot;
  16. Minecraft;
  17. NBA 2K25;
  18. Life Is Strange: Double Exposure;
  19. Final Fantasy I-VI Bundle;
  20. Elden Ring.

The fact is, the game was released on October 31, and the report used sales data up to November 2. Therefore, the game had only three days to make it into the chart, while other projects had much more time.

Analyst Mat Piscatella also noted that EA does not provide sales data for Steam, so those figures were not included in the ranking (unlike other games). The chart only reflects sales for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Were Dragon Age: The Veilguard's PC volume included it would have placed higher on the best-selling titles chart — perhaps as high as 3rd overall. Unfortunately, however, digital sales are included in these specific charts only at the discretion of the publisher.

The analyst added that despite the lack of complete sales information, he stated that the launch of Dragon Age: The Veilguard was «pretty good, though not excellent».

Dragon Age: The Veilguard did not reach the launch week sales levels of either Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth or Dragon's Dogma 2, and it will be a bit of an uphill battle to reach Inquisition's lifetime sales. But again, it's very early and a lot of the story is left to be told. November will give us a much better read.

It is worth noting that a separate top-selling games chart for October appeared on Steam earlier. In this chart, Dragon Age: The Veilguard ranked second, behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Here is the top-selling games chart for October in the UK (according to GamesIndustry.biz):
