The exact release date for The Thing: Remastered, developed by Nightdive Studios — the team behind the System Shock remake—has leaked online. The information was published on the official Xbox Wire portal.

The Thing: Remastered is set to release on December 5th this year. The project is a remaster of the 2002 game of the same name, which continues the story of the 1982 film The Thing.

The main character is U.S. Special Forces rescue team commander Jay F. Blake, who is tasked with investigating the deaths of members of an American scientific team at the Outpost 31 research facility.

Key features of the remaster include anti-aliasing, pixel lighting, 4K resolution, and up to 144 FPS. Additionally, it was recently revealed that the developers will fix the questionable infection mechanic.

The Thing: Remastered is being developed for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
