Geralt was going to be heavily reimagined in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, according to the official «voice» of the character, Doug Cockle, who voiced the character in all three games. At one point, CD Projekt RED almost replaced the actor to go in a completely different direction.
In the podcast Behind the Voice, the performer revealed that in The Witcher 2, the studio planned to remake the image of the witcher, for which they began looking for another actor. Doug Cockle himself learned about this from a friend who attended the casting and asked why CD Projekt RED suddenly started auditioning for the role of Geralt again. Then the performer contacted the studio and said that he was ready to go through a second casting. CDPR agreed.
As a result, Doug Cockle retained the title of the official «voice» of Geralt and even confirmed that he would voice him in The Witcher 4. However, in the second part, we could get a completely different witcher.
Recall that interesting details of an early version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with a quest in Night City and unusual mechanics recently surfaced. As for The Witcher 4, the developers plan to make monster hunting even more elaborate and dangerous.
