The Witcher 4 Will Have More Challenging Monster Hunts — CD Projekt RED

CD Projekt RED studio continues to share bits of information about the upcoming The Witcher 4. This time, the developers touched on the aspect of monster hunting and talked a little about the gameplay and development of Ciri as a character.

In an interview with the GRY Online portal, game director Sebastian Kalemba and executive producer Małgorzatą Mitręgą said that The Witcher 4 will pay special attention to battles with monsters. Not only will they become more detailed, but the monsters themselves will be more connected to the regions in which they live:

We definitely want to increase the gameplay and rework the experience of hunting monsters. Among other things, this is why Bauk was such an important part of the trailer. It's not just that we wanted to show a new creature that lives in the nightmare forest, but we also wanted to convey this organicity, the fear that monsters bring. To show that they are a real problem in this world.
— Sebastian Kalemba
Monsters are part of the narrative, so they will be connected to the regions and the stories being told to make it all consistent and interesting.

The developers also said that there will be other witchers in the game world besides Ciri, as it was in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Geralt has already been confirmed). According to them, the profession still exists, as do monster hunters. As for the gameplay, it will focus on the heroine's agility, not strength.

They told a little new about Ciri herself. The girl has already been assigned a development arc for the entire new trilogy, so her character will gradually develop from The Witcher 4 onwards — players will see the heroine's evolution in full.

Earlier, CD Projekt RED revealed whether there will be romances in The Witcher 4 with Ciri. Meanwhile, players have deciphered a secret message from the developers, hinting at the plot.
