PlayStation Plans to Revive Its Classic Game Franchises
Following Capcom, PlayStation has also announced its intention to return to its old intellectual property (IP). It is likely that new games based on franchises such as Infamous and Twisted Metal will be coming in the future.
In an interview with Famitsu, Sony Interactive Entertainment co-president and PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst commented on the success of the platformer Astro Bot, which featured cameo appearances from characters from many PlayStation games, including classic IP. Many players have already expressed a desire to see new projects based on old series, and Sony is likely to accommodate them:
Sony has accumulated a number of series for which new games have not been released for many years. Of the known ones, these are Jak and Daxter, Infamous, Killzone, Motorstorm, Twisted Metal, Resistance and others. It is possible that PlayStation will indeed decide to shake up its assets in search of a promising franchise that can be revived.
Earlier, Sony published an article with the main gaming trends of the outgoing 2024. And before that, in a December vote, PlayStation players chose the best games, characters and studios.
