Fallout: New Vegas Lead Writer Returns to Obsidian After 14 Years

Obsidian Entertainment has added valuable personnel to its staff — Fallout: New Vegas lead writer John Gonzalez has returned to the studio. The creator of Mr. House, Caesar, and the Three Families has taken up the position of creative director.

Unfortunately, he immediately denied his possible involvement in the development of Fallout: New Vegas 2 in a short message on LinkedIn: «Back to Obsidian for exciting times! (No, it's not FNV2.)»

In a couple of years working at Obsidian as a lead designer and writer, John Gonzalez has made a lot of contributions to the game. For example, he wrote the characters of Caesar, Mr. House, Benny, and thought out the history of the three ruling families of the Strip. He also wrote the main plot, from the moment the Courier is shot to the battle for Hoover Dam, and also managed to work on the Honest Hearts expansion.

Let's recall that John Gonzalez left Obsidian in 2011 and managed to work on various projects in other studios. Among them are Guardians of Middle-Earth from Warner Bros. Games, as well as Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West from Guerrilla Games.

Obsidian is currently preparing to release its new role-playing game Avowed, which is scheduled for release on February 18. The developers recently showed a character editor with promising features. The first gameplay trailer for The Outer Worlds 2 has also appeared.
