Since the release of Atomfall will take place this month, the Rebellion studio provided journalists and bloggers with access to the game build. A whole hour of new gameplay of the post-apocalyptic survival game and final reviews have appeared online.

A number of foreign publications have also published a preview of Atomfall. The Windows Central dubbed the game a mix of Fallout, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and the Doctor Who series, praising it for its freedom of action, unusual quests, many interesting locations and the ability to build your own unique walkthrough. The editor-in-chief of Insider Gaming also tried the survival game and called it the most anticipated game of 2025, noting the visuals, mysterious atmosphere and excellent animations.

I had nothing but a good time with Atomfall. I love the pacing of the game, which is fairly slow but can quickly turn on its head when you get into a fight. It’s designed for the player to prioritise stealth and subterfuge over bold-faced combat, which is a refreshing change from the games I’m used to playing late.

PC Gamer also noticed the similarities with the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series in terms of hardcore. Judging by the preview, the game boasts small but content-rich locations, consequences of choices, complete freedom and extremely bizarre characters. And the plot will adapt to the player's actions, giving rise to new branches.

My time with the game didn't quite give me the time necessary to really see how far these systems bend, but the idea is exactly the kind of thing that gets me very excited.

Atomfall is scheduled for release on March 27, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The first story DLC for the survival game, Wicked Isle, has already been announced.
