The game transfers to alternative England the 1950s, where the consequences of a nuclear disaster led to isolation of a whole region. This is a shooter with elements of survival and detective history, in which you have to not only fight for life, but also solve the secrets of the past.
The main character wakes up in the bunker, not knowing who he is and how he got here. The very first steps on the surface lead to the alienation zone in Cambria - the region where the accident at the nuclear power plant changed everything. Unlike the usual post -apocalypse, the world of Atomfall is not completely mired in devastation: ordinary residents try to maintain a normal way of life, and telephone booths and shops are still working among green hills and forests. However, this apparent calm is hiding chaos - among the survivors there are enough fanatics, criminals and mutants.
Instead of the usual quests in the game - clues. An overheard conversation, found note or mysterious find can lead to unraveled secrets. You can follow the different threads of the narrative, but at the same time, part of the story will inevitably remain behind the scenes. The characters do not behave as unconditional allies: they can lie, pursue their interests or even betray.
Atomfall always lacks resources. The cartridges have to be saved, the first -aid kit is to search, and if the food ends, survival will become even more difficult. Instead of the usual currency, the Barter system operates: each found item can become valuable in exchange.
Enemies are different: from ordinary people who are ready for everything for the sake of survival, to mutants living in dungeons. And there are robots - formidable mechanical guards protecting closed zones. An open battle is not always the best way out, sometimes it’s better to just avoid a collision.
