Dulled Steel, Cold Forge: Dragon's Dogma 2 Walkthrough
In the quest «Dulled Steel, Cold Forge» in Dragon's Dogma 2, the hero comes into possession of an ancient blade that has seen better days and is in dire need of restoration. This guide will direct you to the skilled blacksmith capable of bringing the weapon back to its former glory and detail the steps necessary to complete the quest.
How to complete the Dulled Steel, Cold Forge quest
This quest can be activated while wandering around the castle area in Vernworth during the daytime. A guard will approach the hero, asking to speak in private. Follow the man and listen to him. The guard will hand over a dulled sword and also ask to find a master who could restore the item.
To continue the quest, first, you need to reach the city of Bakbattal in the story and obtain a citizen's certificate. If you have already met this requirement and have set a return crystal in this place, you can immediately travel there. Otherwise, you will have to use the services of carriers, first from Vernworth to the Border Town, and then to Bakbattal.
Upon arriving in the city, open the map and find Brock's forge. It is located in the northern part of the Trade Quarter.
First, talk to Brock and show him the dagger, then with his assistant named Sarah. When she walks away, approach her again for the quest to update.
How to find 15 pieces of shimmering coal
A marker will appear on the map for the cave you need to explore in search of shimmering coal. These are unique resources that glow green in the dark. However, if you use a lantern or another light source (for example, fire blades), the crystals will extinguish as you approach them, and you risk simply not noticing them.
We recommend first clearing the entire cave with a lantern, defeating the minotaur waiting for you in the central part of the dungeon, then turning off the lantern and walking through the dungeon again in search of shimmering coal. The more you collect, the better, but the minimum amount of resources required is indicated in the quest. For each extra piece, you will receive an additional reward in the form of gold.
Despite your efforts, Brock will still not want to undertake the restoration of the blade. You can choose to give the weapon to the girl for further restoration or refuse. The first option will open an additional quest, and the second will complete the quest without consequences. For completing the mission, you will receive 12,000 gold and 2,800 experience points.
