A recent update for The Sims 4 has introduced the ability to customize the gender and sexual orientation of your Sims. You can learn how to do this from our guide.
Open the Sim's settings menu and click on the icon with three green circles in the upper left corner of the screen.
Here you will see two tabs: Gender and Sexual Orientation. We are interested in the second option.
You can track three parameters:
As you've probably realized, romantic and sexual relationships are now configured separately. In all cases, you can choose one, both options, or none. In the second case, you get a bisexual who is open to relationships with both men and women. If you do not choose any option, you get an asexual Sim, not ready for relationships with anyone.
Keep in mind that if you do not set these settings yourself, your Sims will be bisexual and open to romantic experiments. However, a Sim's preferences may change over time. For example, if a character had a successful experience with girls, they might prefer them.
In the Sim's settings, you can specify their gender features. These are located next to the sexual orientation parameters we discussed earlier.
The following options are available to you:
As for newborn Sims, you won't be able to choose their gender and sexual preferences until they become teenagers. But after reaching a certain age, you have the right to configure them just as you do adult characters.
A new option, Change Pronoun, has appeared in the character settings menu. You can determine how your Sim will be addressed: He/His, She/Her, or They/Them. Besides, there is a fourth option that offers the possibility to set your own set of pronouns for different situations. Currently, the system is quite raw, so various glitches and errors may occur.
