A simulator of social and public life, a continuation of the popular game series The Sims. The character creator will open new facets of creativity thanks to an expanded toolkit: for example, you can choose a hobby and interest for your computer character, define social skills and memories, and select life and career goals.
Other game tools have also been improved: now you can easily build the house of your dreams or set a daily action plan for your character. The game has significantly improved animation, characters move and act more smoothly and naturally. They also express their emotions much more vividly, influenced by various random events throughout the day and even their clothing.
Gameplay
Sims 4 aims to realistically embody everyday life in a virtual world, with all its joys and sorrows, challenges and successes, love and hate, friendship and enmity. Those wishing to play their alter ego can create one character; to build a dynasty — two; but you can also simply live as a large friendly family — from children to the elderly. Moreover, NPCs are not just dumb dolls, but have character and traits.
An important part of the gameplay is taking care of the character and fulfilling their wishes/needs, otherwise they may die. Remaining behind the scenes, the player orchestrates the character's self-realization throughout their life: will they have love at first sight or a series of failed romances, will they become successful and happy or fall to social depths and lose everything, will they make a large group of friends or spend all evenings alone.
In addition to personal and social goals, there is a construction feature. You can start a campaign on bare land and earn enough for a huge mansion, building it to your taste, or move into a small house right away and later completely renovate it. Additionally, you will need to furnish the bare walls with furniture, think about decor, and buy appliances. Often, you need to sell a window to buy a microwave.
Game World
In Sims 4, there is no single open space; instead, there is a large set of maps (worlds) in the format: metropolis, small town, low-rise suburb, countryside, resort, wild territories. Besides the landscape, they are made unique by a wide range of biomes: deserts and forests, savannas and tropics, as well as a system of seasons and building architecture.
Thus, in the metropolis, there are many skyscrapers and penthouses, while on the tropical island, players will find huts of the local tribe and villas of the wealthy. There are now many more areas for entertainment: outdoor recreation, gym, picnics, fishing, visiting a museum or library, going to a bar or nightclub with friends.
The worlds are divided into districts, between which you have to wait for loading, but the space inside is better open for exploration and more populated than in The Sims 3. Characters can be scattered across worlds, and then you can switch between them, with them remaining where you left them.
Character Development
A fictional world is inhabited by sims — computer characters that possess almost a full personality, achieved through a multi-component role-playing system.
The game features 6 main skill groups: science, hobbies, communication, creativity, cooking, and sports, with each skill in a group having 10 levels of development. Some skills can be set when creating a character, while others can be unlocked during gameplay. Skills improve with use, meaning the more you program, cook, or run, the better the sim becomes at it.
Skills are necessary for everyday life: technical skills allow you to repair electrical appliances, fishing skills prevent starvation, and charisma helps to easily make new friends or build romantic relationships.
Skills are also useful in Careers — a game mode where the sim goes to various jobs (dozens of options) and earns money. The more developed the sim is and the more tasks they complete, the higher they will climb the career ladder. There are also professions (detective, doctor, scientist, actor) where the player directly manages and controls the sim's work process, completes unique quests, and can make various decisions that affect the character's career.
Character traits (divided into 5 groups) and life goals (20 categories) are an important part of a sim's "personality." The former add unique preferences, responses in dialogues, actions, and behavior options. The latter are akin to major desires, such as "to love and be loved" or "to build the perfect family."
Story and Single Player
In Sims 4, there is no specific storyline; the player writes the sim's (family's) story themselves. Like in any sandbox, it’s best to start with a specific goal — to earn a beautiful life, build and furnish a huge house, befriend all the sims in the neighborhood — and then bring it to life.
The single-player game is influenced by dozens of situations, from a small fire to a conflict with a neighbor, from a pleasant meeting to an unexpected adventure. Some of these arise spontaneously, while others may result from previous actions. The player can actively influence what happens or do nothing, which will affect future events.
At the same time, the game is not limited to just decent behavior and good deeds. You can role-play a loving polyamorous heroine, a cunning invader of large houses, a plunderer of ancient tombs, or even a tyrant who kills their characters in twisted ways.
Key Features:
- Characters have learned to perform multiple actions simultaneously;
- The DLC released during the project's development significantly expanded gameplay possibilities, so it's worth buying the complete edition;
- The game promotes sociocultural diversity and represents the cultures and traditions of the peoples of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia through customization.

My acquaintance with the series of games began with the 2nd part. At that time, for me it was something incredible: you could create your own family, take them to work, get married and have children! Everything is just like in life! Next came the 3rd part, which I associate with half-hour loading of cities and the same time loading of the wardrobe. I found out about the 4th part about a month before its release and naturally became interested in it. After playing it, I didn't have a very good impression. Many features were cut from the game, saying that they were not planned for the game. However, imagine my surprise when they were soon promised, only as DLC for the price of the game. Yes, the graphics in the game have become nicer, the character generator is more convenient and in general… Read full
Read full
A wonderful life simulator from EA... but damn 2000 wooden ones for one DLC?!
Better graphics, better sound, better character creation generator, but the prices...
I'll grab it from PS Plus, it's just being distributed in February!
Прекрасный симулятор жизни от EA..., но черт 2000 деревянных за одно DLC?!
Лучше графика, лучше звук, лучше генератор создания персонаей, но цены...
Урву ее из PS Plus, она как раз раздается в феврале!
The graphics and editor are really good, but for perfectionists who care that the game has all the DLC, it’s better not to play it, because 44 thousand is a bit too much.
And personally, my opinion is that the removal of the open world is a huge step back compared to part 3.
Best Sims! Those who want to buy - buy. I won't recommend it)
Лучший Симс! Те кто хочет купить — покупайте. Я го#на не посоветую)
I have always loved the Sims series, even as a child I played Sims 2 on the curling iron, then I played 3, now I played 4. I don’t even know which is better, 3 or 4, but I liked it
