How to Unlock All Secret Locations in Black Myth: Wukong
Black Myth: Wukong is a soulslike action RPG based on the classic Chinese novel «Journey to the West.» Like in FromSoftware projects, this game has hidden locations that are easy to miss. Our guide will show you how to find the secret places in the open world of Wukong.
Hidden locations can be found in the first, second, fourth, and fifth chapters of the main story. Each of them features a very strong boss, making the battle a real challenge. If you missed one of the secret places, you can return to it through the Keeper's Shrines. And if you've already killed the main villain, select «Continue» to return to the open world of Wukong. Just don't use the «Enter a New Cycle» option in the main menu. This will start a «New Game+» and overwrite your current save.
Chapter 1: Ancient Guanyin Temple
This location can be unlocked in the very first chapter. You need to ring three bells.
First Bell. In the Forest of Wolves, find the fast travel point called Outside the Forest.
From there, run along the left path to the wooden bridge, and then follow the road lit by torches. This will lead you to the arena where the boss Guangzhi awaits. He looks like a wolf with a staff. Defeat him and ring the bell.
Second Bell. In the Bamboo Grove, you need the teleportation point Snake Trail.
Facing the shrine, turn left, climb over the rocks, and descend to the river. To the right, you will see a path leading to the bamboo forest. Follow the paved road to the very end. It will lead you to the boss named Guangmou. After defeating them, interact with the bell.
Third Bell. In the same Bamboo Grove, find the fast travel point called Marsh of White Mist.
Access to it will open after defeating the boss Whiteclad Noble. Follow the left path until you see a large cave. There is another bell inside.
After ringing all three bells, you will be teleported to a new location called Ancient Guanyin Temple.
Defeat Elder Jinchi, then examine the body hanging nearby. This will grant you the Vessel Fireproof Mantle. It will help you in the battle with the final boss of the first chapter, where you will need to defend against his flames.
Chapter 2: Kingdom of Sahali
In the second chapter, you will encounter a drunken boar. He is located in the Fright Cliff area, near the Rockrest Flat shrine.
From there, move straight to a small meadow. There sits the animal, wanting to sober up. To access the secret area, you need to complete his questline.
After talking to the boar, head to the Yellow Wind Formation location. You need the teleportation point called Windrest Bridge.
Cross to the other side and turn left towards the houses. Enter the building on the right and find a golden barrel. Break it and take the Sobering Stone.
Bring it to the boar and talk to him. Make sure to hear everything he says. Scroll through the dialogues until they start repeating.
Then move to the Crouching Tiger Temple. You need the shrine called Temple Entrance.
Buy the Jade Lotus from the shop. Climb the stairs and turn into the second passage on the right. There you will meet the drunken animal again. Give him the flower and talk about all available topics.
Return to the place where you first met the boar. There you will meet a Yellow-Robed Squire. Defeat him, then follow the drunkard to the large gates. This will lead you to the secret location of the Kingdom of Sahali.
Your goal is to reach the top of the cliff where a man is standing. Talk to the guy, then defeat the boss named Fuban. For defeating him, you will receive the Wind Tamer, a special weapon that is extremely useful against flying bosses.
Chapter 4: Purple Cloud Mountain
To get to this secret area, you need to defeat the Venom Daoist. For this, head to the Webbed Hollow location, to the Pool of Shattered Jade shrine.
Follow the path until you see a spider cocoon. Hit it. After that, a boss will appear, and you need to fight him. However, you won't be able to defeat him as he will escape.
To find the monster again, use the teleportation point Court of Illumination, which is located in the Temple of the Yellow Flower.
From the shrine, turn back and run along the path. At the fork, turn left and continue until you see a cutscene with the boss. Defeat him completely, then interact with the wall behind him.
This will lead you to the Purple Cloud Mountain. There, you will face two bosses. To the right of the entrance hides The Scorpionlord, and at the top — Duskveil.
Chapter 5: Bishui Cave
To access this location, you need to complete Ox's questline in the fifth chapter. First, head to the Ember Woods, to the Ashen Passage I shrine.
In the next corridor, bulls and undead are fighting. There also appears a mini-boss known as the Stalwart Axe Warrior. Defeat him, then talk to the warrior.
Move to the Furnace Valley. You need the Emerald Hall shrine. There, you must defeat all the story bosses. In one of the battles, the ox will join you. After the victory, talk to him. If he doesn't appear, return to the Ashen Passage where you first met him and go through all available dialogues.
Then head to the Emerald Hall and talk to the ox again. After that, move to the Valley Entrance shrine.
Run along the path until you see lava on the right. To the left of it is a non-aggressive fox you can talk to.
Go through all available phrases, then return to the ox and tell him what you saw. Next, move to the Fire Field location. You need to reach the Furnace Crater shrine. From there, turn back and run along the path until you see a ball breaking a barrier on the left. Descend into the opened passage and defeat the boss known as the Flint Vanguard. Continue to the Cold Slope shrine.
Approach the icy gates. This will activate a fight with an optional boss. Defeat him and talk to the ox. Now you can open the doors.
This will lead your hero to the secret location Bishui Cave.
