In this guide, you will learn how to traverse the Poppy Field in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and find the icon of the stalker Mityay. We will discuss the dangers lurking in this area and provide tips to effectively overcome the challenges.
This anomaly is located in the Small Zone, in the northwestern part of the location. You can get here at any time, but we recommend first visiting the surroundings of the Zalesie bar and talking to the stalker nicknamed Mitya. During the conversation, he will offer you to do a good deed and earn some money at the same time — take the quest The Poppy Field, so that a marker of the anomaly appears in your task journal.
When you are nearby, do not rush to enter the village territory. In the house on the right, you will find a guy nicknamed Pomor. As we mentioned earlier, if you are not ready to part with 2000 coupons or spend time completing another task from this character to get valuable information, then our guide is exactly what you need.
Tip: We recommend stocking up on energy drinks in advance. We have completed this quest several times specifically to understand the anomaly's mechanics, and it seems we have figured it out a bit.
Poppy petals continuously fly over the field, which you can see with the naked eye. The closer they are to the hero, the more he wants to sleep. This same effect occurs if you stay among the plants for a long time. Therefore, the best option is to stay away from the petals hovering over the ground and drink an energy drink from time to time.
Below we will tell you about interesting places that can be visited in the poppy field.
Note: The actions described below are optional. If you wish, you can skip exploring the anomaly and run directly to your goal.
From Pomor's house, move forward along the road. On your right, there will be a lone tree — approach it and examine the corpse. You won't find many valuables, but next to each deceased person here, you can hear a bit of their backstory.
Now return to the road and examine the remains of either a shed or a well. There will also be a corpse nearby, from which you can borrow ammunition and a nearly broken weapon.
On the opposite side, there is the first building. Enter and examine the corpse to the right of the entrance. If you turn around and move a bit forward, you will see two cans of energy drinks on the left — a very useful find right now.
After this, you can skip returning to the road and proceed directly to the last house in this area. The front door of this house is boarded up with planks that can be broken to get inside. If you don't want to spend time breaking the planks, you can try to enter through the roof. By climbing onto the roof, you will find a hole through which you can get into the house.
However, be extremely careful, as poppy petals often fly through this house. These petals have a sleep-inducing effect that can catch you off guard. If you see them, press against the wall near the stove — this will help you avoid their effect.
There are also two more corpses, a couple of cans of energy drinks, and useful supplies. You will also hear memories: a man and a woman discussing where they need to hide an item. The man decides to take it to the cellar.
After carefully examining the house, we found no cellar. This is not surprising, as it is located in the most inconspicuous place — in the middle of the poppy field behind the house. Use the marker on the map to reach the entrance to the basement, then jump down. Here lies the last body, and on the shelf is the item needed for the quest — an Orthodox icon.
If you decided to return the icon to Mitya, go back to Zalesye, to the bar to the Wizard. Talk to him and hand over the icon. In gratitude, you will receive 1350 coupons.
