In the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) plays a key role, helping not only to obtain information but also to complete important game tasks. Early in the storyline, you will encounter an unusual PDA that will be useless at this stage. However, later on, players will have to decide whether to show it to other characters. In this guide, we will discuss several possible decisions when interacting with this device and explain the consequences of each choice.
Returning to the Junkyard area, you will find many members of the Varta squad inside. You need to go up to the second floor and meet their commander — Captain Korshunov. During the dialogue, you will have to make the first choice.
If you decide to show the PDA to Captain Korshunov, regardless of your previous interactions with the Varta faction, you will receive a badge as a token of recognition. This badge symbolizes the trust of the faction and makes Skif a closer friend to its members. It will also significantly simplify some storyline missions, including the next one. Additionally, the badge unlocks new dialogue options during random encounters with Varta scouts, which can help you avoid unwanted conflicts.
Moreover, you will receive a weapon — Assault Rifle «Fighter». This rifle has a high rate of fire but relatively low accuracy. Although it is not the most powerful rifle in the game, it may be better than the weapon you are using at this stage.
If you decide not to show the PDA, you will miss out on all the rewards you could have received. However, in the future, at the «Sawmill» location, you will meet a man named Scar. We will tell you more about him below. Unlike the military, Scar and his entourage will be more friendly towards you.
When you escape from the «Swamp» location, upon approaching the hill, you will be contacted via radio and directed to the sawmill. This is where gamers will first meet Scar.
If you previously showed the PDA to Korshunov, the difference between this decision will be minimal. However, if you did not show the device to Korshunov and decide to give it to Scar, you will receive an additional quest at the «Wild Island» location.
During the storyline mission «Hot on the Trail», you will again have to make an important decision.
You can respond: «The attackers had such a PDA» or «Someone from your people is to blame». However, regardless of the chosen option, you will still have to show the PDA, as it is mandatory for progressing in the main storyline.
