The Fallout series has caused outrage among Fallout: New Vegas fans. Even Bethesda had to intervene

A serious controversy broke out among fans of Fallout: New Vegas after the release of the series based on the Fallout universe. They decided that the show had erased Obsidian's game from the series' canon. Beware, there are spoilers!

From the sixth episode of the series, you can find out that the city of Shady Sands, the capital of NCR (New California Republic), was destroyed in 2277. Thus, the organization lost its main strength. But in Fallout: New Vegas, set in 2281, the city still exists and NCR remains a serious political player.

Many players suspected that Bethesda was trying to remove the events of the game from Obsidian from the canon. Even the leading designer of the studio, Emil Pagliarulo, who worked on most of the Fallout games, had to intervene in the dispute.

«Seen it [the discussion] up a couple of times, so here's a helpful little Fallout timeline,» he wrote on social media, along with a timeline of all the media for the game series.

However, his post did not explain in any way why, after 2277, Shady Sands still exists in Fallout: New Vegas. In response to a direct question from a subscriber whether the game is canonical, Emil Pagliarulo confirmed this:

Let's remember that Amazon's show based on the Fallout universe was released on April 11. The series has received mostly positive reviews and currently has a Metacritic rating of 73.

Earlier, Bethesda game director Todd Howard denied information about the studio's plans to make a series based on The Elder Scrolls.
