British actor Bernard Hill, known to many viewers for the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the film Titanic, has died. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
During his 50-year career, he acted in more than a hundred films, but his most famous roles were Theoden of Rohan in The Lord of the Rings and Captain Edward Smith in Titanic. He also became the only actor whose films received 11 Oscar awards.
The actor passed away on the afternoon of May 5, his agent informed the media. This evening he was supposed to attend the premiere of the series «The Defendant», in which he played one of the roles.
Bernard Hill was 79 years old.
