Orlando Bloom ready to return as Legolas in new Lord of the Rings

A dream cast is almost a reality: actor Orlando Bloom has expressed his desire to reprise his role as the elf Legolas in the new Lord of the Rings. Before him, three other actors from Peter Jackson's trilogy supported the idea of returning to their roles.

Variety asked the actor in a recent interview if he was interested in returning to the world of Middle-earth. Orlando Bloom was very enthusiastic about the idea:

Oh, man, those things are amazing. Yeah. I don't know how they'd do it. I guess with AI you can do anything these days. But, if Pete [Peter Jackson] says jump, I say, 'how high?' I mean, he started my whole career.

The actor also added that he is not privy to the details of the project, but has already discussed it with Andy Serkis, who plays Gollum. The latter suggested that the cast could indeed be «rejuvenated» using AI if the actors from the trilogy decide to return to familiar roles.

Recall that the premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled for 2026. Andy Serkis will act as director, and Peter Jackson has been appointed producer.

Earlier, Ian McKellen, who plays Gandalf, said that he had already been offered to play the role of the wizard again. Before him, Elijah Wood and Viggo Mortensen discussed their potential participation.
