Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Director Reveals Which Actor He Wants to Play Voldemort in the Series
The first season of the Harry Potter series from HBO and Warner Bros. will be released next year. Amid rumors about the cast, the director of Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets Chris Columbus shared his wishes.
In December, the actor who plays Voldemort, Ralph Fiennes, said that he would be happy to see the series Dark Lord played by Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy. Entertainment Weekly journalists asked Chris Columbus in a recent interview how he feels about this recommendation. The director responded positively:
In September 2024, casting for the roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley began, but Warner Bros. has not yet decided on the performers. However, many rumors about the adult cast have appeared online — in particular, candidates for the role of Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall were named.
The first season of the Harry Potter series will be released in 2026.
A collaboration between the Harry Potter franchise and the Detective Conan manga was previously announced. It also became known that Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone could have been filmed by the director of Fight Club.
