Valve has introduced changes to its refund policy on Steam. These changes will close a well-known loophole that allowed players to request a refund even after playing for several hours.

This concerns major projects such as Starfield and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which offer deluxe editions allowing early game access several days in advance. Thanks to «early access,» users could spend dozens of hours in the game and then request a refund, as the official release had not yet occurred. This is no longer possible.

Today we have updated a portion of our Refund Policy regarding pre-purchased titles. This change covers titles that are in pre-purchase and offer «Advanced Access». Playtime acquired during the Advanced Access period will now count towards the Steam refund period.

Earlier, Valve faced a massive wave of refunds for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League purchases. The superhero action game was heavily criticized for its dull gameplay and uninteresting plot.
